Damn, I never got around to my year-in-review cross post. Hmm, maybe I'll work on that. But the short version is that I'm already looking to racing cross next year, just a blast out there.
The Build has begun. As the weeks have progressively turned up the dial, coach sent me the plan for this week. One particular day ended with his comment, "This is gonna be a brutal day here..." Gotta love that for inspiration!
I'm really focused on doing most of my threshold work on the TT bike this year. It makes for some serious suffering. But I figure if I can do it on the TT bike, that carries over well to the road bike. You just can't switch that around no matter what anybody thinks. I'm not sure if it was the intensity from cross, but somehow I managed to hang onto more fitness than I thought during base. Did some testing and right now I'm pretty much where I left off when I was firing on all cylinders during road season in 2011. Building watts start getting harder and harder as you reach that high end. We shall see.
Right knee has been acting up a little which is strange since it has never hurt before. I'm hoping it's just one of the aches and pains from getting older. Getting reacquainted with the rollers now.
Oh, picked up a front 808 Firecrest Tubular. Wow, just holding that wheel makes you excited to see how fast that wheel spins.
